Last week I bought two new real techniques brushes. I first was a bit doubtful about the quality for the price that I needed to pay, because they aren’t the cheapest brushes in the world.

In the end I decided to buy the new brushes. I bought the Real Techniques Bold Metals 101 Triangle Foundation Make Up Brush for € 28,99 (which is £19,74 and $29,65) and Real Techniques Bold Metals 100 Arched Powder Make Up Brush for €27,95 (which is £ 19,04 and $28,60)

They are both really good brushes. They are very soft, especially the powder brush.

The Real Techniques Bold Metals 101 Triangle Foundation Make Up Brush has a special triangle shape, which is perfect for a foundation brush. With this shape, you can get to the parts easily where it normally would take a little bit more effort to get the foundation spread evenly. For example the nose, but also under your eyes. With the flat side you just cover up the big parts of your face. When you are done with that you flip the brush around and you use the triangle shape to get around your nose and under the eyes. I personally divide the foundation on my face first and after that I use the brush to spread it evenly. But Nic Chapman explains it differently in the Real Techniques tutorial. I think it is just what suits you the best. I also used the brush with different kind of textures of foundation and it works for me with all the foundations. From liquid to mousse. But the liquid foundation spreads better than the mousse with the brush.

Real Techniques Bold Metals 100 Arched Powder Make Up Brush is a somewhat flat powder brush. It is not fully round which makes it a smaller brush. Sometimes I have the feeling that powder brushes are massive, but that is just because it is fully round, so it look massive. Because this brush is not fully round it has the benefit, that it does not look massive, it covers up the same size of your skin as a big round brush would and because it is flat, you can also use it if you want to contour lightly. This powder brush is also unbelievably soft. When I got it and felt it, I was really surprised. It is literally the softest brush I have ever felt.

I use the brush to powder my face the same way I do with other brushes, but I bought it because it is not that big and I can contour my face with it to. I personally use the brush with compact powder but loose powder works as well.
